a quick word on the wii
Now I own a Wii and it is the only next-gen console I have. all through out the Wii's life ppl have complained about how the x-box 360 got all the shooters and wii got the kiddy games and early on it really seemed so. There is no CoD4 on Wii which is one of the greatest FPS of it's generation but CoD: World at War (Built off the CoD4 engine) is coming to Wii and I have this to say. The Wii finally seems to be getting the attention in needs to compete with the 360, PS3 and even PC. With games like The Conduit, 007 Quantum of Solace, and CoD:WaW I think the Wii will finally be seen as a viable next-gen system.
the google godsend
What can I say about Chrome...other than it's totally changed my life and it can change yours too. only in version 0.2.7 Chrome has more speed than Firefox. While it lacks the add-on power Firefox can give you it has been stated that it soon will support add-ons similar to Mozilla's powerhouse.
Now in addition to being fast it's also portable, meaning it can be saved on a flashdrive and taken anywhere. Both Firefox and Opera also have this ability and I think it will be one of Chrome's most useful assets. While IE and Firefox are the market standard web browsers Chrome lover's abilitiy to take chrome on the go will play a big roll in geating it's name out there.
Some of Chrome's features that the average user will notice right out of the box is the lack of a google search bar. Google has streamlined things by making the addresbar the searchbar as well. Also the Application shortcut tool will create a desktop icon allowing you to use websites like applications even giving some there own icons. Most notably the ability to save email shortcuts to the desktop is a helpful way to organize things for those who look at there email a dozon or so times a day. Incognito is also another interesting feature it does not save any data or cookies from anything viewed in the incognito window; however if your web browsing is being watched over such as at school or work incognito can not stop someone from viewing pages your currently looking at.
Now here are a few downsides to Chrome. Chrome does not yet support add-ons therefor those of you looking for something that rivals firefox in every way you'll have to wait a while longer. On the start up, and everytime you open a tab, you are greeted with you top 9 most visited websites this is a personal issue because I didn't like the feature in Opera and I don't like it that much now. Also Chrome is a very stripped down way to browse with now add-ons and no toolbars it severly lacks in the feature department.
Dispite what it lacks now Chrome is still in development and this beta was simply a small showing of what Google hopes to achieve.
